Hi there, My name is Mike. I heard u like mudkips too?

I work in IT as a Systems Architect during the daytime here in South Florida.   In my spare time I develop open-source software--checkout my SourceForge.net profile or GitHub profile to see what I'm currently working on.

  • CompTIA A+
  • CompTIA Network+
  • CompTIA Security+
  • CompTIA Server+
  • CompTIA i-Net+
  • Certified Virtualization Expert (CVE)
  • LANDesk Certified Engineer
  • ISC2 - Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
  • ETA – Computer Service Technician (CST)
  • ETA – Certified Network Systems Technician (CNST)
  • ETA – Certified Web Specialist (CWS)
  • VMware VSP4
  • VMware VTSP4
  • VMware VTSP5

I enjoy any kind of technology--not just IT, home automation, security systems, CCTV, access control, home theater, energy monitoring, tinkering with circuits, etc.

I also help run an IRC network, Abducted.us. We are close to breaking into the top100 largest IRC networks (or perhaps have already...)

  1. Hi Mike,

I was reading your posts on your certifications, congrats…. I also noticed that you have a way to get vouchers at a discount price and I was wondering if you could share the information with me I neet to take the server+ and Security+ exams..

    • eBay–setup saved searches on eBay for say “Security+ Voucher” and you’ll get an email shortly after whenever there is a listing posted. People who buy them way in advance and don’t ever take them sell them on eBay for cheap a few weeks before they expire. Hope this info helps

  2. So I am trying to install a NC-1000K4 And am having issues installing the Communication Bus, I see that you did a write-up on installing, But not much info on the Comm Bus, I am trying to use a RS232 to RS485 Adapter, And just a CAT5 from it, Any help would be appreciated.

    • I used the C-100-A1 then connected the RS-232 interface to a serial server (industrialized one from Blackbox since it wasn’t in an indoor space).
Are you trying to extend the RS-232 interface a long distance essentially? I would try using a pair of serial servers, some of these boxes can be used together as a server/client to extend the physical interface over IP.
